My research concerns race and social inequality, social movements, culture, and politics. My dissertation examined commemorative movements around a variety of early 20th Century massacres of African Americans in the United States, asking why some incidents have seen extensive commemoration while others that seem very similar have seen none. I have also published research on argumentation around same-sex marriage, and have some work in progress on unconscious prejudice. For more on my research, see my CV or the Research page.
I have taught classes including Introduction to Sociology, Criminology, Race and Ethnic Relations, Race, Class, & Gender, and Social Stratification. I occasionally give public talks related to various aspects of inequality. For more on my teaching, see the Courses and Pedagogy pages.
